What is the basis for the screening questions and analysis of the results?The Student Risk Screening Scale Internalizing and Externalizing (SSRS-IE) was developed by education researchers at the University of Kansas. The model is in use in various schools and districts throughout the country. Studies have shown its predictive value in teasing out students in need of low-intensity intervention and escalation. It consists of 12 to 14 questions answered by the teacher from observing the student. This data is indexed and scored on an individual basis (for the teacher to use in interacting with individual students) a class room or school basis for teachers, counselors and principles to create strategies for better outcomes, and at a district level to provide an aggregate view of the efficacy of educational effort, notice trends and allocate resources.

What guarantees the security of our student data?There are 4 levels of security starting with application security. The system is built on the laest version of Java and our programming conforms to the OWASP standards for application programming. Each district ProactPulse system is siloed in its own private network. Data can only be accessed by gaining permission to that network. Along with firewalls and WAF, MFA, security keys and strong role based controls are in place. No one developing code for the system has access to the production system. Sysops monitors each private network continually. If you have special needs in this area (if you wish to host it on-site for example) we can easily accommodate you. We are a full features MSP. Pen testing and upgrades are done regularly. Our security team tests the limits of the protections in place in our private networks, upgrades systems and platforms systematically after testing patches and upgrades to insure they are viable. Your system is always up to date. Sites are monitored using the AWS monitoring products that can detect attacks, breaches and unusual activity. Sysops is on call and handles each alert. Support is available at all times for any concerns.

How long does it take to get going?The Proact Pulse team is very good at setting the data up in the system and preparing the school specific map of the data. After approval, this process should take less than 2 weeks. Our team will be working with your administrator and team to set up introductions and training for the rest of the group. 6 weeks for total implementation is a solid estimate.

What data is needed to start?We will need student and teacher data to seed the system. The district administrator will need to set up classes and teachers (or if that data is exportable we can write a custom routine to do it). The Proact Pulse team will work with whatever data set you provide as long as it has the prerequisite fields. We have a number of pre-made import tools, so the process is to map your data into those fields.

How often do I screen?ProactPulse uses SRSS as a model. The SRSS guidelines recommend screening 3 times per year on a fixed schedule.

Does ProactPulse interface with data systems such as “Power School”?The Proact Pulse system can be mapped to almost any data system. Power School for instance is very easy and can be completed quickly.
